Why Seafood is a Healthier Option?

Seafood is one of the healthiest items you can add to your diet. Not only is this tasty and delicious, but it also has plenty of nutrients that help with weight management, lower the risk for heart disease, and is a wonderful alternative to replace red meat. We are not saying you should become a pescetarian. However, you should review your diet. If you added more seafood it would improve your overall health. That way you can add variety to your next dining experience when you are enjoying an American steakhouse, Italian food, Asian cuisine, or etc.

As the owners of Crab Corner Maryland Seafood House in Las Vegas, we are passionate about seafood. We take pride in being considered by many visitors as one of the best seafood restaurants in the city. Locals come to our southwest location, while tourists visit our other restaurant located just outside the Las Vegas strip. They come at least once a week to get their weekly quality seafood dishes. Especially the ones who love foods with a unique kick to it because all menu items are inspired by authentic Maryland cuisines.

Although seafood is great for you, some people do not know the benefits of adding seafood to your diet. Today, we are going to talk about specific seafood items you should incorporate in to your diet and why it is so beneficial for your health!

Fish

All fish are packed with Omega-3, which has shown to lower the risk of heart disease. Studies have shown, people only need to eat fish twice a week for the Omega-3 to do its job within the body. So for all you non-pescatarians you only have to eat it twice out of the seven days! It is also an excellent source of protein that is low in calories and is cost effective.

Crab

At our restaurants we are known to serve fresh Maryland blue crabs. We get rave reviews! It is another seafood item that is high in Omega-3, which is an anti-inflammatory that can ease the pain of those with arthritis and reduces blood pressure. Crab also has vitamins and minerals such as zinc, calcium, copper, and so much more. It is a wonderful source of protein that is low in calories. Be sure to add it to your health menu on your next dining adventure.

Lobster

These delectable red crustaceans are so delicious! Sometimes we question if this is actually really good for our diets. It all truly depends on how you eat it. If you eat it with a lot of butter and cream sauce then it turns into an unhealthy alternative. However, if you eat it plain by yourself and add a bit of lemon juice then lobster becomes a very healthy choice. It contains selenium, B vitamins, iodine, and vitamin E. Lobster is an ideal source of protein that has less cholesterol, calories, and  saturated fats than lean steak or pork.

Oyster

We all know oyster is a sweet delicacy that can be eaten many different ways, especially in Las Vegas. However you decide to eat it, just know you are doing the body good. They contain amino acid tyrosine, which regulates mood and decrease stress levels. This is one of the reasons why oysters are considered an aphrodisiac. So do not feel guilty eating them the next time you are having dinner at an oyster bar.

Remember to reserve a meal with a few of these seafood choices in your diet this week. It will improve your health!
